Minerali Industriali member of the Commission of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials

The European Partnership for Innovation is a stakeholder platform that represents industry, public services, academia and NGOs. Its mission is to provide high-level European Commission, EU countries and private actors with innovative approaches to raw material challenges.

The European Innovation Partnership (EIP) plays a central role in the EU policy framework in the raw materials sector:

  • strengthens the start of raw material by translating the strategic policy framework into concrete actions and mobilizing the party community to implement them;
  • was instrumental in securing funding for research and innovation: while Framework Program 7 (the funding instrument for research and innovation for the period 2007-2013) included only around 180 million euros for research and innovation on raw materials, Horizon 2020 (the funding instrument for research and innovation 2014-2020) has reserved 600 million euros for research on the challenges related to raw materials.

By bringing together actors from the entire research and innovation chain, the partnership aims to streamline efforts and accelerate market uptake of innovations addressing key challenges for Europe.

The philosophy of Minerali continues to be centered on innovation with the aim of developing all aspects inherent to raw materials internally, including geological and mining research, the design and construction of plants and machinery for the mining sector, respecting the environment and guaranteeing high quality, maintaining a strong lasting relationship with its customers, contractors and stakeholders with a sustainable development approach.

The desire to participate in the operational group on raw materials of the EIP derives from the direct experimentation of the great value of the initiatives promoted by the EU in support of innovation (participation in various LIFE projects, EU conferences and the IMA Europe group) and from the role that especially today, based on the current economic situation,  the industrial players involved in this field have hired, being able to make their own contribution to a common European strategy in the raw materials sector.

The mission of the Operational Expert Group of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials is to advise the High Level Steering Group (HLSG) and convert the Strategic Implementation Plan into tasks and actions.
